Project structure ASKURIS
WP 1: Analytical methods
Extending the knowledge on the comportment of anthropogenic trace substances, using up-to-date analytical methods; and integration of data into a database (DAIOS)
Partners: Berliner Wasserbetriebe; Helmholtz Zentrum für Umweltforschung; Umweltbundesamt; Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung Stuttgart
WP 2: Processes / technical procedures
Laboratory and pilot-scale investigation on the adsorption of organics onto activated carbon, as well as tests on organics ozonation/oxidation in partly closed water cycles
Partners: TU Berlin; Berliner Wasserbetriebe; Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin
WP 3: Eco-toxicological effects and substantial evaluation
Gathering information on eco-toxicological effects of trace substances, and human bio-monitoring to evaluate and minimize potential hazards and risks
Partners: Helmholtz Zentrum für Umweltforschung; TU Berlin; Umweltbundesamt
WP 4: Risk perception and behaviour
Establishing comprehensive understanding of risk perception, risk awareness, and behavior of water consumers, as well as identification of related impacting factors on the basis of theoretical and empirical results in social sciences
Partners: TU Berlin; Berliner Wasserbetriebe
WP 5: Process assessment
Comparison of technological and natural barriers for trace substance removal, using life cycle assessment and cost analysis; the assessment encompasses technological alternatives for trace substance minimization
Partners: Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin; Berliner Wasserbetriebe
WP 6: Risk management
Development of a comprehensive and adapted risk management system; presentation of results in panels and professional associations; recommendations for the transfer of results to other regions/water suppliers
Partners: Berliner Wasserbetriebe; Helmholtz Zentrum für Umweltforschung; TU Berlin; Umweltbundesamt
WP 7/8: Project results, project management
Publication of project results and presentation to experts and the public; evaluation of project progress, quality assurance, reporting, coordination of work packages
Partners: TU Berlin; Berliner Wasserbetriebe; Umweltbundesamt; Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung Stuttgart; Helmholtz Zentrum für Umweltforschung; Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin
