KompetenzZentrum Wasser Berlin, Berliner WasserbetriebeBrief description
Objective
Investigation of the ecological and economic sustainability of barriers for the removal of trace contaminants in the water cycle of Berlin; life cycle assessment as well as comprehensive cost calculation
Key activities
Ecological and economic assessment of different technical processes for the removal of trace contaminants in order to choose the optimal strategy for different basic conditions
- Development of inspection scenarios
- Creation of a mass flow model for relevant barriers in the Berlin water cycle at Lake Tegel
- Collecting data for the different barriers and transferring them to the mass flow model
- Analysis of environmental state indicators (effects assessment, e.g. carbon footprint) as well as examination of the rigidity of the statements about sensitivity analyses
- Accounting the costs of the different scenarios as well as comparison of the processes and systematic approaches
