Objective
For many trace compounds that are detected in WP 1 and 2 there is a lack of toxicological and eco-toxicological data in order to predict potential hazards. Therefore, this WP investigates toxic and eco-toxic effects of these trace compounds and of real water samples.
Key activities
- Development of toxicological test strategies for new trace compounds and for contaminated water samples taking into account the gene toxicity as a prior evaluation parameter
- Based of the results of the measurement, evaluation of the human relevance of anthropogenic trace contaminants in the water cycle
- Collection of data for eco-toxicological effects of trace contaminants with the help of a combination of aquatic tests
-
Evaluation of the treatment methods concerning their potential to minimize the toxic load
- Combination of the data from chemical analytics, technical measurements and biological tests; prioritization of potential hazards and categorization of method options regarding the risk management
